A fully assembled chandelier ships its structure, its gaps and its protective foam all at once — a 60 cm piece can occupy 0.12-0.15 cbm boxed, of which more than half is empty space and cushioning. Knocked-down (KD) packing removes the air: frame, arms, shades and crystals travel as flat, nested layers and reassemble on site in under an hour. Done well, flat-pack cuts volume 55-70%, multiplies units per container, and still arrives whole; done badly, it converts freight savings into damage claims. Volume converts directly to container units. Take a 100-piece order of a 70 cm chandelier at 0.12 cbm assembled versus 0.045 cbm flat-packed: the assembled load needs roughly 12 cbm of a 40HQ, the KD load 4.5 cbm — the same container slot then carries 2.5-2.7x the units, or the same units leave space for the rest of a mixed programme.
